A new bottling in the Kelley Fox lineup, this is from a vineyard planted in the Dundee Hills with cuttings from Cameron's legendary Abbey Ridge vineyard. After finishing primary fermentation in a stainless tank, the Dux was racked to neutral Burgundy barrels (228L) made from French forests for élevage and malolactic fermentation. Its appearance is that of pale spun gold with brilliant transparency. Because of both its youth and seriousness, the nose as I type these words is restrained while also delicately perfumed with vanilla, pears and cream, along with a hint of salinity. This character continues in the mouth on a lovely frame and texture, ending with a long finish. I can’t wait to see what this Chardonnay does over time. I would suggest holding this wine for a few years before opening. A sexy, highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh red berries, incense and allspice, and a zesty mineral note adds urgency. Juicy, appealingly sweet and lithe for the vintage, offering intense raspberry, cherry and spicecake flavors and a hint of candied flowers on the back half. It is rather minerally and saline, too, and this is certainly not a fruit forward, tooty fruity fruit bomb by a long stretch. In the mouth, the fruit is there, but the frame can sometimes deliver a sucker punch, depending on one’s palate and sensibilities. I seem to notice this a lot more than anyone who has tried it so far. \u003cspan class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1815469242\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"aQJ\"\u003eIn six months\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e or so, the fruit will emerge more fully from behind the frame, the minerals, and the slight salinity. The texture is classically Maresh Vineyard silky, and the finish is long. It is best served chilled\"  Kelley Fox\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nDepending on the lighting, the colour is either deep pink or medium peachy-pink like a sunset. It is very clear and light-reflecting, bordering on effulgent. The nose is a straight shot of pure, focused Hood strawberries, and lifts the heart. The mouth is long, cable-like, tense, silky and serious. The vines in this block were planted in 1983 on their own roots. Strong, old Oregon oak trees and towering old maples guard the southern part of my block for this wine, while the eastern border of my block is a wild, mixed forest filled with unseen songbirds singing during the light hours. The Weber 2021 is a medium, youthful, and rich tone of red with brilliant transparency. The classic Dundee Hills nose is pure-fruited, inviting, and full red and blue berries and subtle spices. The mouth has beautiful, silken texture full of strawberries and raspberries. It has nice acidity and fine structure that has a long, silky, and weightless finish. When I wrote these notes, this wine felt like it should be in a fairy tale.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWeber Vineyard block in the Dundee Hills, planted on own roots in the early 1980s. Jory and volcanic-based soils with good drainage and cool maritime influence.
