‘Margaret’ is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 8% Malbec. Bright crimson in colour, the nose is extremely lush and aromatic, displaying a range of red and dark berry fruits combining with toasty French oak notes. The palate is exuberant, dense and concentrated– featuring ripe red and dark berry fruits, succulent middle palate, and plush tannin. A powerhouse of density and flavour, especially considering it’s 13.5% alcohol.
This wine is intense deep garnet in colour. The nose displays fresh mulberries interweaved with blackberry compote, cherry and violet. Quite lifted and vibrant, the nose also hints at a little sweetness in the form of toffee apple. The palate reveals a wine of subtle power, showing an array of dark fruits, cacao bean, orange zest, star anise, and hints of black pepper. The palate is driven, beautifully layered and finishes with bright energetic acidity.

“Deepish red colour with a glint of purple. The bouquet is superbly fragrant with a rose petal, subtle violet and red and dark fruit fragrance, edged with exotic spices. Very intense flavour, full-bodied, with a sweet fruit core, firm tannins and great elegance, its wonderful spectrum of flavour lasting very long on the palate. There’s a lot of detail here. A majestic cabernet blend, with a glorious future. (Grown on the original Woodlands Vineyard on Caves Road, planted 1973) 17 MAR 2020 Drink: 2020–2040”

87% cab, 8% merlot and 5% malbec: tobacco and graphite are the first scents. Currant, too. Red and black. Authoritative. Fine boned. Well melded tannins, juicy and moreish. This pushes long, with an overall feeling of mid-weighted confidence in the glass and across a table. Drink by 2036.
