Aromas of fresh green apple, grapefruit, pear, honeysuckle, chamomile and white pepper. Smooth and dry on the palate. A delicate yet tense white wine with a lively acidity that gives structure to the wine.
Mt. Kayagatake is known for being the final resting place of Kyuya Fukada, who wrote “The Hundred Famous Mountains of Japan”. The wine is vinified using Koshu grapes from Kayagatake’s foothills at an altitude of 400 to 700m, including the company-managed vineyards.
Kayagatake Koshu follows the technical guidance of clean and pure winemaking given by the late Professor Denis Dubourdieu of the University of Bordeaux. This was a turning point for Grace Wine, not relying on sur lie or oak, but drawing out the grapes’ true potential. The result is a delicate wine, refreshing with a fresh yet dignified intensity.

THE WINEFRONT – GARY WALSH
I love the Koshu wines from Grace for their delicacy, though granted, some my find them a little too much like having sex in a small boat. Crisp, gently peppery and herbal wine with a green pear and lemon water flavour. Light in body, delicate, fine dusty and peppery feel to texture, tangy citrus crunch to acidity, subtle gingery character, with a tight and dry finish of very good length. So refreshing and pleasing to drink. Barely there in a way, yet so present.
