Grace Rosé Akeno Vineyard 2023

$75.00

Cabernet Sauvignon (37%) Merlot (35%)Cabernet Franc (21%) Petit Verdot (7%)

Bright salmon, firm viscosity. First impressions on the nose are rich fruit notes such as blood orange, redcurrant, cowberry and cherries and floral notes of thyme and rosemary. On the palate, the wine is complex, with exotic spices expanding on the palate. Refined, yet the concentrated flavours from low-yields reveal as structure, and the acidity typical of cooler regions give tension on the palate. This rosé wine has a long finish, combining freshness and depth.

Serious Rose, for the connoisseur who is looking for complexity and cellar worthy characters.

Description

Misawa Vineyard, Akeno town (cho),700m, Yamanashi Prefecture

This wine was born in 2008, from the desire of head viticulturalist and winemaker, Ayana Misawa, to make a dry rosé with structure in Japan.
The varietal composition changes from year to year, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc grown at the Misawa Vineyard without herbicides or chemical fertilizers applied are separated into small lots and are fermented separately by direct press and the Saignée method, followed by maturation in old French oak barrels. By doing so, the wine expresses both the complexity of the varietal characters and the sense of place.

Grace Rosé 2022
Posted on 25 July 2023.

Merlot (36%) Cabernet Sauvignon (32%) Cabernet Franc (25%) Petit Verdot (7%). The Rosé from Grace seems to be improving year on year.

Cherry, redcurrant, poached strawberry, watermelon, some dried herb perfume. It’s fresh, light in body, redcurrant and strawberry with a cranberry crunch to acidity, a little white pepper to taste, and also to texture, something of a saline/nori flavour in the mix, and a bright and dusty finish of excellent length. It’d be easy enough to add a point if it you were drinking it with a nice piece of salmon..
