100% Baga – Chalky clay mid-slopes with eastern orientation to the sun and a very intense Atlantic influence (only 15 km from the ocean). For this wine the grapes come from different small plots of Pato’s oldest vineyards (80 –130 years). These 3 centenary vineyards were purchased already some years ago and are fully converted to biodynamics.
The bunches are handpicked and hand-selected from the centenary vineyards in Bairrada (3 to 4 bunches/vine). Partly de-stemmed, fermented in open oak lagares with some extraction (pigeage). After the fermentation the wine is aged in 500 –600 used pipes and tonel (big cask) for 18 months. Prior to release, the wine further aged in bottle for 2 months.
Bright intense dark cherry red colour with a ruby rim and great viscosity. The aromas are very pure dominated by violets, strawberries and subtle smokiness, a bit of spice when the wine is young. After 5 to 7 years, the aromas get more complex, extremely energetic and with good concentration.
The wine is almost generous with an intense structure and richness in harmony with the fine and noble tannins. It is neither too rough nor too heavy, the body has an extremely silky texture and the acidity brings energy and liveliness. The aftertaste is a pure delight.
“Nossa!” Its name is spontaneously evocative . The Bairrada region, where the blue blood of the Baga grape flows, has a unique complex geological composition. Working with biodynamic practices and inspired by the viticulture of Filipa’s grandmother helped to understand us the notion of “ungrand terroir” for Baga. Serve it decanted and fresh (below 18 ºC) in elegant glasses.

A pure baga made from really old vines, with a complex bouquet of cherries, violets, smoke and a touch of mixed herbs. This has incredible balance, combining concentration with fresh acidity and a subtle saline touch. Shows firm tannins and a chewy, concentrated finish. This is made from three 100- to 140-year-old vineyards planted on clay and limestone soil. The grapes are partially destemmed and fermented in open wood lagares. Aged for 12 to 18 months in 500- and 1,500-liter used oak barrels From biodynamically grown grapes. Demeter and Ecocert certified. Great now, but will improve over the next few years. Drink or hold.

From three small biodynamically cultivated chalky clay plots averaging 80-years-old. Bright as a button, buoyant yet grounded, with subtle, pine needle-edged crunchy red cherry, plus white and black pepper. A pronounced smoky, mineral undertow and incipient mushroom to the finish. Fine-framed, the incisive acidity and slender, refined, backbone of tannin in service of the fruit. Aged in used 500-600-litre French oak.
