The bouquet is very savoury, straw-like and has hints of meringue and smoked charcuterie. Precise on the palate, it displays all the qualities of a well-made champagne of great elegance. Elegant, tasty aromas of ripe fruit will soon emerge from the delicacy of the rose petals.
The Deutz Brut Rosé 2010 is made from Pinot Noir (78%) and Chardonnay (22%).
The Pinot Noir crus are indicative of the noble origin of the grapes: exclusively from Aÿ and Bouzy, terroirs that bring out both the subtlety and power of the fine Pinot Noirs. This champagne’s distinctive style and colour are the result of the addition to the blend of a 9% proportion of fine Pinot Noir red wine, produced by Deutz from parcels of old vines, including “La Pelle”, growing on the Aÿ hillside. The lovely balance of this gorgeous champagne is in perfect keeping with previous Deutz vintage champagnes. It would be inconceivable not to serve this champagne as an aperitif. However, the Brut Rosé Vintage 2010 will also pair perfectly with duck with cranberries, pigeon with cherries, or even beef en croute. It can be enjoyed with a dessert, such as a “Mikado” pastry puff with Gariguettes strawberries. It will be sublime with Asian dishes such as skewers of Yakitori or Ebisu, or with the iodine flesh of certain types of sushi and sashimi.

“Light to mid-salmon-pink turning to a more onion-skin colour with age. The bouquet is very savoury, straw-like and has hints of meringue and smoked charcuterie. The palate is more intense and finer than the NV rosé, with lovely complexity of flavours and very good length. The finish is clean and dry and incisive. Very deep flavour and long carry. A superb rosé. On today’s tasting, this is the value buy of the range. (Disgorged June 2015. Pinot noir 78%, chardonnay 22%). Drink 2017 to 2022.” – 96 Points, Huon Hooke.
